Magic Spoon's oatmeal ad lands on a 30-day subscription by default
A current Magic Spoon ad sells Protein Oats without mentioning repeat delivery. The click opens the right product, but the page has a 30-day subscription selected before the shopper makes a choice, and that recurring order carries into checkout.
What we checked for you
FunnelWatch reviewed five current Magic Spoon ads. We followed the exact product link used by a Protein Oats creative, confirmed that the advertised oatmeal survived the click, added the default selection to the cart, and opened checkout without entering customer or payment details.
One issue was strong enough to show you. The ad presents the product as a straightforward shop-now purchase. The landing page quietly starts the buying path with delivery every 30 days already selected.
We safely reached the opening checkout. The product, price, free subscriber gift, and recurring 30-day charge were visible. We did not enter an email, shipping address, phone number, or payment details, and we did not place an order.
Where paid traffic is leaking
Shoppers asking for oatmeal are put on a repeat order before they choose
What happens after the click

The click reaches the advertised Variety 4 oatmeal. On its opening state, the one-time purchase at $31.96 is not selected. "Subscribe & Save 20%" is selected at $25.57.

What happened: The creative promotes Protein Oats and its nutrition benefits. It does not mention a subscription. A fresh visit to its exact product link selected the recurring option automatically. Adding the default choice put Oatmeal Variety 4 in the cart at $25.57 for delivery every 30 days. Checkout kept those terms and showed a recurring subtotal of $25.57 every 30 days.
Why this matters while the ad is running: A shopper can click for oatmeal and reach checkout with a repeat order they never actively chose. Some will catch it and back out. Others may only notice when they review the order. Either outcome can turn paid interest into hesitation, abandoned checkout, or avoidable support and cancellation work.
What to change first: Let shoppers choose one-time or subscription delivery before either option is active. If the campaign is meant to sell a subscription, say that in the ad and make the 30-day commitment plain beside the first price.
What FunnelWatch would keep watching: This exact ad-to-product link, the selected purchase frequency on arrival, the one-time and subscription prices, delivery interval, free gift, cart contents, and recurring total at checkout. A campaign or product-page change should not silently alter the commitment a shopper carries toward payment.
Why this keeps costing you
This leak is easy to miss because every step works. The ad is live. The right oatmeal page loads. The cart accepts the item. Checkout opens. The problem only appears when someone follows the paid path and checks which purchase choice was made for the shopper.
Magic Spoon's ads, product pages, subscription rules, prices, gifts, cart logic, tracking, and checkout can change on different schedules. A new campaign or site release can switch the default, change the interval, or carry different terms into checkout without taking the store offline.
FunnelWatch keeps following the live journey from each current ad through the product page, cart, and opening checkout. Your team gets a warning when the advertised product disappears, the default purchase changes, the price or delivery interval drifts, or the cart stops matching the page.
Put this Protein Oats path under continuous watch, then make the one-time or recurring choice explicit before more paid shoppers reach checkout.
